Network Marketing: Is That One of Those Pyramids Thingy?

by Steven Dobson · 2 comments

We often identity Network Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) as being one of those Pyramid Thingy, and normally that’s because of the circles that are drawn to represent the individual at the top of his or her organization and the individuals that join him and her as business associates connected to the people that join the organization as a result of efforts of those associates.

Those same organizations are also misidentified because people that are not knowledgeable of how network marketing works think that the person at the top of the organization is the only one getting paid or that no one below the person at the top can make as much money at the person at the top. The question that many Network Marketers hear is “Network Marketing: Is that One of Those Pyramids Thingy?” There is one organization that this describes and it’s not a Network Marketing or MLM Organization.

In a corporation, now one in the company is going to make more than the CEO. Below the CEO is the President, and no one below the President is going to make more than the President. Below the President are Vice Presidents, and no one below the Vice Presidents are going to make more than the Vice Presidents. Below the Vice Presidents are the Middle Managers and no one below the Middle Managers will make more than the Middle Managers. Unfortunately, the employees are the ones in the company that do the heavy lifting for the company and are paid the least.

According to Robert Kiyosaki in his book Cash Flow Quadrant employees also pay the highest income taxes. Robert also asked the question of “why anyone would want to work so hard for a job when they could never own it, they could not pass it on to their kids, and they could get fired from a job?”

We do it because we’re told from a young age to go to school, get a good education, so we can get a good job.  According to Robert Kiyosaki and for the reasons mentioned above, there is no such thing as a good job. We work to put food on the table, clothes on our backs, and to make a better life for our family and ourselves. Unfortunately most working people are just one missing paycheck away from financial disaster.

Many are turning to the Network Marketing Industry as a way to make a few extra hundred dollars a month to supplement their income. Without the proper knowledge Network Marketing can be a challenge, and most that join the industry that do not possess the knowledge needed to become successful, leave the industry with the wrong impression or quit feeling that Network Marketing does not work.

To obtain the success that you deserve in anything requires you to put in the time and to have the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful. You must invest in yourself and in your business for you to become successful. Otherwise you have a very expensive hobby, and most hobbies will not pay you anything.

Two of America’s richest men (Donald Trump and Warren Buffet) own Network Marketing companies, and Robert Kiyosaki saying that Network Marketing is “The Business of the 21st Century” means that Network Marketing is not one of those pyramids thingy! It is a legitimate business model that has helped companies like Amway, Avon, Herbalife, Mary Kay, Nu Skin, and Tupperware become billion dollar companies.

The only way to succeed in Network Marketing is to get the education that will allow you to start and grow your business to any level that you desire. This is Net”WORK” Marketing and for you to get the financial rewards that you deserve, you have to put in the WORK.

Facebook Marketing is the hottest marketing strategy available, and all it requires is that you have a Facebook Fanpage, a product or service to market, the knowledge and skills that will allow you to Master Social Media, and a burning desire to succeed.

With the median family net worth dropping by almost $50,000 since 2007 most families are looking for ways to supplement their incomes and many are turning to the Network Marketing Industry. Hello, I was surfing the net looking for resources to corroborate what I know to be true and that is that most MLM companies are not illegal pyramid schemes. I was reading your article and came across a typo. I thought you might be interested in fixing. Just below your CEO pyramid image your next paragraph starts with the following (cut and pasted): “In a corporation, now one in the company is going to…”

Did you catch the typo? You said NOW one instead of NO one.

Just thought you would like to know.
Have a great day. And thank you for your article. It was helpful in figure out how to respond to people when they jump to the wrong conclusion.

Crystal,

Thank you for pointing out the mistake. I will make the correction.

Having the right information to respond when someone asks if the company you’re promoting is an illegal pyramid is a confidence booster. Most people don’t understand the Network Marketing industry and normally rely on something that they have heard and it’s normally something negative. Keep increasing your knowledge and feel free to return anytime.
