What Does World Events Have to Do With Your Network Marketing Business?

by Steven Dobson · 5 comments

Everything! When things happen in the offline world that causes people to lose trust in the financial system or their government, they will come online looking for a way to earn some extra money. Think about the housing bubble and what happened that almost caused the collapse of our financial system. People lost their homes, jobs, and for some, about 30 to 40 percent of their retirement income.

When we went to war against Iraq the turmoil in the Middle East caused the price of oil to reach record prices, and more recently when North Korea shelled the South Korean island, our financial markets took a dive because of the uncertainty and the possibility of yet another war. People came online looking for ways to earn some extra money to make up for the increased amount of money they were spending on everyday items.

Even the way we think about something as simple as education has an effect on our network marketing business. I fall into the Baby Boomer category and when I was growing up we were told to go to school, get good grades, so we can get a good job. In the past that may have meant some type of job security because people worked for one or maybe two companies their whole adult life and then retired. You may have even heard it referred to as “The 40-40-40 Plan. That’s where you work 40 hours a week for 40 years to retire with 40 percent of your income.

That may have worked 40 years ago, but in today’s economy with companies outsourcing, downsizing, and doing everything to protect profit margins, there is no such thing as job security.

We no longer live in an isolated economy; we now live in a global economy. So the next time something happens outside of the place you call home; and you ask yourself “What does world events have to do with my network marketing business?” you can say, everything!

Your network marketing business is affected by everything that goes on around you so you must pay attention to the world around you. As an entrepreneur, you’re responsible for managing a business and your business is affected by world events, but for you to take advantage of those events, you have to be prepared.

You have to be positioned as a leader in the network marketing industry because when people come online looking for a way to make some extra money, they are not looking for a business opportunity, they are looking for a leader that’s going to show them how to make money online. People are naturally attracted to leaders because by associating themselves with leaders they become more business savvy, more knowledgeable, because leaders teach their followers how to become successful.

“You can get everything you want in life, if you help enough people get what they want.” By Zig Ziglar

That quote to me screams leadership and the true reason why the top people in this industry are so successful. They have found a way to help others get what they want out of life and by doing so they have gotten what they wanted in the form of time and financial freedom.

When our government prints money to pay for entitlement programs, it weakens the dollar. When the dollar is weak people living in other countries have more spending power, and some of those people come online looking for ways to make additional income. If your network marketing business is one that is international, it could have a positive effect on your business. When the Federal Reserve starts spending $75 billion dollars a year to buy up debt, this further weakens the dollar and has the same effect on your business.

So, the next time you hear the question, “What Does World Events have to do with your network marketing business?” you know the answer. The question for you to answer is “What are you doing to prepare for the results that world events will have on your network marketing business?”

I’d come to give the go-ahead with you here. Which is not something I typically do! I really like reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!

I’d like to visit your blog more often but these days it seems to be taking forever to return up. I visit from work, and our connection there is pretty good. Do you think the problem may very well be on your end?

I’d like to visit your blog extra often however lately it seems to be taking endlessly to return up. I go to from work, and our connection there is fairly good. Do you assume the issue could possibly be on your finish?
